Lest we forget, it has been a year since the awful invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The death toll is in the tens if not hundreds of thousands. The dislocation of families and flight of refugees is unimaginable. The damage to infrastructure, people's homes and work places is on a scale not seen since WW2.
Why in the 21st century in Europe that has already seen so much suffering in previous decades? There is no acceptable answer. I wanted to mark the anniversary because our news is sometimes obsessed with celebrity controversy, local politics and who won what at the weekend. These are nothing compared to what is still going on in Ukraine. My painting is called "SYMPHONY TO UKRAINE". It is a one-off and based on my belief that a painting can be like music. The high notes, the derge, the complicated sequences, the weave of the music from delicate tranquility to almost painful dissonant clash and finally, ..... hope.
I will add the painting to my gallery shortly. I just wanted to get this blog out while it was still relevant.
