BOTANICAL FANTASIA
This series of paintings is about nature and the fascinating shapes and forms it can take, whether from the smallest cell to foetus-like organs and the profusion of plants that will spring into life given the smallest amount of soil and water. The surfaces of the paintings are heavily textured and I have used intense, irridescent and joyful colours. There are glimpses of bright colours through seams and sometimes impossible shapes that are pure fantasy. I was inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, Dali’s elephants and Klee’s Fig Tree but encapsulated my own botanical fantasy of chaos and gaudiness.
